About This Trip
Dreaming of conquering the high passes of Ladakh on two wheels? Our 6-day/5-night pocket-friendly bike trip delivers the raw beauty and adventure of this Himalayan gem without breaking the bank. This isn’t a luxury tour; it’s about experiencing Ladakh authentically, connecting with the landscape, and forging unforgettable memories. We start and end in Leh, giving you ample time to acclimatize to the altitude which is crucial for a comfortable journey. Imagine cruising along the Indus River, the turquoise water sparkling under the Ladakhi sun. Picture yourself navigating challenging but rewarding roads to Pangong Tso, its ever-changing hues of blue and green leaving you speechless. We’ll ride through dramatic valleys, past ancient monasteries clinging to cliffsides like Thiksey Monastery and Hemis Monastery (entrance fees not included), and experience the unique Ladakhi culture. This trip is best suited for intermediate riders comfortable with mountain terrain. While the roads are generally well-maintained, you’ll encounter some rough patches and challenging climbs. The ideal season is June to September, when the passes are open and the weather is relatively stable. Expect cool nights even during the summer months, and be prepared for the possibility of rain. We keep groups relatively small to foster a more intimate and connected experience. It’s perfectly suited for solo adventurers looking to meet like-minded people, couples seeking a thrilling and unique getaway, or small groups of friends ready for an epic ride. We handle the logistical headaches – comfortable accommodation (a mix of guesthouses and camping), hearty meals, and a support vehicle to carry luggage and provide assistance if needed. You just need to bring your riding gear and a spirit of adventure! Itinerary
Group meets at the Delhi Metro Station (Kashmere Gate) in the evening. Briefing session by the trip leader outlining the journey. Board an overnight Volvo bus to Leh. Enjoy the comfortable journey with music and fellow travelers.
Arrive in Leh early morning. You’ll feel the altitude (11,000ft)! Check into your guesthouse and enjoy a hearty breakfast. Full day for acclimatization – crucial for a safe and enjoyable trip. Take a leisurely walk around Leh market, explore the Shanti Stupa, and enjoy a delicious meal at a local café like Illy's Cafe. Evening at leisure.
After breakfast, ride towards Nubra Valley, crossing Khardung La – one of the world’s highest motorable passes (18,380ft). Stop for photos and enjoy the breathtaking views. Arrive in Nubra Valley (Diskit, Hunder) and check into your campsite/guesthouse. Enjoy a double-humped camel safari in the sand dunes of Hunder. Dinner and overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
Start the journey towards the mesmerizing Pangong Tso (14,000 ft). Enjoy the scenic drive through Shyok village. Arrive at Pangong Tso, famous for its changing colors. Check into your campsite near the lake. Spend the evening enjoying the stunning views and capturing photos.
Wake up to the breathtaking views of Pangong Tso. Enjoy breakfast by the lake. Start the ride back to Leh, enjoying the scenery. Check back into your guesthouse in Leh. Evening free for shopping or exploring.
Visit Thiksey Monastery and Hemis Monastery, showcasing beautiful Ladakhi architecture. (Entrance Fees Not Included) Explore the Leh Palace and learn about its history. Enjoy some last-minute shopping for souvenirs. Final briefing and preparation for departure.
Check out from your guesthouse. Transfer to Leh Airport or the bus station for your onward journey. Cherish the memories of your incredible Ladakh bike trip!
