Escape to the Garhwal Himalayas on the Pangarchulla Peak Trek – a 7-day adventure perfect for couples, small groups, and seasoned trekkers. Our journey begins in Joshimath, a bustling town steeped in mythology and a crucial stopover for many Himalayan expeditions. From here, we’ll gradually ascend through lush forests of oak and rhododendron, passing through picturesque villages like Dhak and Beljundi. The trail winds along the Dhauliganga River, offering stunning views at every turn. As we gain altitude, the landscape transforms into alpine meadows, leading to our base camp at Pangarchulla base. The summit day is challenging but immensely rewarding. Waking before dawn, we’ll push for the peak, witnessing a breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas – a panorama including Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Hathi Parvat, and Chaukhamba. Standing at 4,750 meters (15,584 feet), the 360-degree views are simply unforgettable. This trek is graded as moderate to challenging. Previous trekking experience is recommended, but not mandatory. A good level of fitness is crucial. The best time to visit is between May and June, or September and October, when the weather is stable and the views are clear. Outside these months, the trail can be covered in snow, requiring specialized equipment and experience. After the descent, we’ll spend time in Joshimath, exploring the Shankara Math and Narsingh Temple. You’ll have time to grab a hot cup of chai at a local café and savor the memories created on the trail. This is not just a trek; it's a chance to reconnect with nature and with each other. Itinerary
Meet at the Delhi departure point (Connaught Place) in the evening. Board an overnight AC Volvo bus to Joshimath. Enjoy the scenic drive through the plains. Dinner stop en route (self-paid). Overnight journey.
Arrive in Joshimath early morning. Check into a hotel for freshening up and breakfast at your own cost. Meet with the trek leader for a detailed briefing. Acclimatization walk around Joshimath, visiting the Narsingh Temple. Rest and prepare for the trek.
Drive from Joshimath to Dhak (approx. 1.5 hours). Start the trek to Beljundi via Dhak. The trail winds through lush forests and alongside a stream. Enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains. Camp overnight at Beljundi.
Trek from Beljundi to Chutaya. The trail becomes steeper as you gain altitude. Pass through dense rhododendron forests. Camp overnight at Chutaya.
Continue trekking towards Pangarchulla Base Camp. The landscape transforms into alpine meadows. Enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks. Camp at Pangarchulla Base Camp.
Wake up early for the summit attempt. Trek to Pangarchulla Peak (4,750m). Witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas. Descend back to Chutaya campsite.
Trek down from Chutaya to Beljundi. Drive from Beljundi back to Joshimath. Check into a hotel in Joshimath. Explore Joshimath town, visit Shankara Math. Farewell Dinner.
Early morning departure from Joshimath. Board an AC Volvo bus back to Delhi. Enjoy the scenic journey. Arrival in Delhi in the evening.
